A self-taught artist, I always enjoyed drawing. I stumbled upon drawing with white pencil on black paper many years ago. Ever since then, I use white pencil on black paper to capture details, from wrinkles on faces to textures on fabric and musical instruments. Whether it’s a fleeting expression or moment, I like how the simple yet dramatic contrast between black and white highlights the complexity which turns up again and again in the everyday. Because in reality, life is rarely black and white, with most of the drama playing out in the grey areas in between.
